Answers That Empower Investors

Getting Started and Account Types

Is Bhayani Securities licensed and regulated?

Yes. We're licensed by SECP as a securities broker and hold Trading Rights Entitlement Certificate (TREC) No. 045 on the Pakistan Stock Exchange, with a heritage on the exchange going back to 1984.

I'm a complete beginner. Can I start investing with BSL?

Yes. You can open a Sahulat account with your CNIC, mobile number and bank account, start with a first deposit of at least Rs 5,000, and talk to one of our advisors for free before you invest.

What types of accounts can I open?

Individual accounts (Sahulat or Normal), minor accounts for children, Roshan Digital Accounts for overseas Pakistanis, and corporate and institutional accounts. Normal-account clients can also apply for margin financing, and portfolios of Rs 2.5 million or more qualify for our High Net Worth service.

What's the difference between a Sahulat and a Normal account, and which should I choose?

A Sahulat account has a shorter form and no proof of income, and lets you invest up to Rs 3 million in the ready market. A Normal account has no investment limit and gives access to margin financing, but needs a fuller profile and proof of income. If you're starting out, choose Sahulat; you can upgrade any time.

Is there an investment limit on a Sahulat account?

Yes. A Sahulat account can hold up to Rs 3 million in total, and trades in the ready market only. To go beyond that, upgrade to a Normal account.

Can I switch from a Sahulat account to a Normal account later?

Yes. You can upgrade to a Normal account at any time; contact our team to do this.

Who can open a Sahulat account?

Individuals with a valid CNIC, a mobile number and a bank account who fall in SECP's low-risk category. It suits first-time investors, students, homemakers and anyone starting with a smaller portfolio. You can hold one Sahulat account per broker.

Can I open an account for my child?

Yes. A parent or legal guardian can open a minor account for a child under 18 and operates it on the child's behalf. You'll need the child's B-Form or Child Registration Certificate, your CNIC or NICOP, and proof of your relationship or guardianship.

Can a company, fund or trust open an account?

Yes. Companies, funds, trusts, banks, insurers, family offices and corporate treasuries can open institutional accounts. The documents depend on the type of entity, so contact our institutional team and we'll share the exact list.

Opening Your Account

How do I open an account with BSL?

Apply online on our Open Account page in about 10 minutes. Choose Sahulat or Normal, enter your CNIC, mobile number and IBAN, confirm a one-time code, complete your profile, then upload your documents and sign electronically. NCCPL verifies everything with NADRA and your bank, so there's nothing to do in person.

What documents do I need?

Photos of your CNIC (front and back), a mobile number and the IBAN of a bank or mobile-wallet account, normally in your name, with proof of the IBAN. A Normal account also needs proof of income, such as a salary slip, NTN or tax return. If you claim Zakat exemption, you'll also upload a CZ-50 declaration.

How long does account opening take?

The application takes about 10 minutes. Once you submit, your account is usually linked to BSL within about 1 working day and opens about 1 working day after that, for both Sahulat and Normal accounts, as long as your details match your CNIC and bank records.

Is there a fee to open an account?

No. Opening an account is free, and you pay nothing before your account opens. Once it's open, you make a first deposit of at least Rs 5,000 to start investing.

Do I need to visit your office?

No. The whole process is online, and you never need to visit an office. You're still welcome to visit us in Karachi if you'd like help in person.

Why must my mobile number and IBAN be in my own name?

NCCPL sends your verification code to your mobile and checks your IBAN, which confirms the account is really yours. Both should normally be in your name. If either belongs to a close relative, you can still apply with proof of the relationship.

My mobile or bank account is in a relative's name. Can I still apply?

Yes. If your mobile number or IBAN belongs to a relative, we'll ask for proof of the relationship during the application.

Why are my details shared with NCCPL and NADRA?

Every PSX investor must be verified through NCCPL, the national clearing company. NCCPL checks your CNIC against NADRA's records and verifies your mobile and IBAN through the State Bank's Raast system.

What is a UIN, and is there a charge for it?

A UIN (Unique Identification Number) is your investor ID with NCCPL, and every PSX investor needs one. NCCPL charges Rs 300 a year to keep it active.

My IBAN photo or CNIC image won't upload. What should I do?

Retake the photo in good light on a flat surface, with all four corners visible and no glare. A bank statement, cheque leaf or banking-app screenshot all work as proof of IBAN, as long as your IBAN and legal name are clearly shown. Your progress is saved, so nothing is lost if you try again later. If it still fails, email customer.support@bsl.com.pk and we'll help you finish.

Which file types and sizes can I upload?

You can upload JPEG, PNG or PDF files of any size. Photos from your phone camera work well, as long as all four corners are visible and the text is sharp.

Can I stop halfway and finish my application later?

Yes. Your progress saves automatically, so you can stop at any point and pick up exactly where you left off, from any device. Choose "Existing application? Log in" on the Open Account page to continue.

Can I open an account from outside Pakistan?

Yes. Overseas Pakistanis invest through a Roshan Digital Account: open one with a participating bank, then choose BSL as your broker. It's all done online.

After You Apply

I've submitted my application. What happens next?

NCCPL reviews your application, verifies it with NADRA and your bank, and links your account to BSL, usually within about 1 working day. Your account then opens about 1 working day later, for both Sahulat and Normal accounts. When it opens, we email you your client code, and your app login follows once your first deposit of at least Rs 5,000 is credited.

How do I check my application status?

Log in through "Existing application? Log in" on the Open Account page. Your status page shows each stage, from Identity verified to Account open, and updates automatically, so you never need to call to ask.

My application is still pending. Why, and what can I do?

A pending application is usually waiting on NCCPL's review or on a correction from you. Your status page shows which. If we need something fixed, your status page shows More information needed and we email you exactly what to change.

What if my application needs corrections or is rejected?

If a detail doesn't match your CNIC or bank records, your status page shows More information needed and we email you exactly what to fix, so you can correct it and continue. If your name doesn't match your CNIC, you'll need to reapply with your name exactly as printed. If an application is rejected, we give you the reason in writing.

How will I know my account is open?

We email you as soon as it opens, with your client code and the next steps. Your status page will also show Account open.

How do I log in to the app for the first time?

Once your account is open and your first deposit of at least Rs 5,000 is credited, we email you the app link, your username and your password.

I submitted a request but haven't heard back. What should I do?

We reply to messages the same working day. If you haven't heard back by the end of the day, call (021) 32429774-5 or email customer.support@bsl.com.pk. If you're waiting on an account application, your status page shows where it stands.

Deposits and Withdrawals

What is the minimum deposit to start investing?

Rs 5,000. Opening your account is free; once it's open, make a first deposit of at least Rs 5,000 to start investing.

Is Rs 5,000 a one-time first deposit, or a balance I must keep?

It's a first deposit only. After that, there's no minimum balance to keep.

What can I buy with Rs 5,000? Is there a minimum number of shares?

You can buy as little as one share on the PSX regular market, so Rs 5,000 is enough to buy into most listed companies. On shares priced above Rs 20, commission on a Rs 5,000 buy is about Rs 8.63 including tax, plus CDC's Rs 5 per-trade charge and small regulatory charges. On cheaper shares the per-share rate applies, which costs more as a percentage.

How do I add funds to my account?

Transfer money from a bank or mobile-wallet account in your name to BSL's client account at Bank AL Habib (account title BHAYANI SECURITIES (PVT) LTD CLIENT A/C, IBAN PK77BAHL1012008100479601). Use online banking, your bank's app or our Raast QR code, and put your client code in the reference or purpose field.

Which payment methods do you accept?

Bank transfers from an account in your name, through online banking, your bank's app or Raast, and JazzCash or Easypaisa accounts in your name. We also accept crossed A/c Payee cheques, pay orders and bank drafts made out to Bhayani Securities (Pvt) Ltd.

Can I deposit through JazzCash or Easypaisa?

Yes, as long as the JazzCash or Easypaisa account is in your own name. Send the transfer to BSL's client account IBAN and put your client code in the reference.

Can I pay in cash?

No. We don't accept cash. Every payment must reach Bhayani Securities (Pvt) Ltd through a banking channel.

Can a family member deposit money into my account?

No. Deposits must come from the bank or wallet account registered with your BSL account, so we can match every payment to you.

How long does a deposit take to show in my account?

Usually the same day, as long as your client code is in the payment reference.

I've made my first deposit. How do I confirm you received it?

It appears as cash in your account once it's credited, usually the same day. If it hasn't shown by the next working day, email customer.support@bsl.com.pk with your client code and the transfer receipt.

Is there a fee for deposits?

No. We don't charge for deposits, though your bank may charge its own transfer fee.

How do I withdraw money?

Request a withdrawal through the app or by email to customer.support@bsl.com.pk, and we transfer the money to your registered bank account.

How long does a withdrawal take to reach my bank?

We process withdrawals in-house in line with the settlement cycle, and the transfer then follows standard banking timelines. Money from shares you've sold can be withdrawn once the trade settles on the next working day (T+1).

Is there a withdrawal fee?

No. We don't charge for withdrawals to your registered bank account.

Can I withdraw to any bank account?

No. We pay out only to the bank account registered with your BSL account. To use a different one, update your bank details with us first.

When can I withdraw money from shares I've sold?

PSX settles trades on T+1, so the money from a sale is available once it settles on the next working day.

Commissions, Fees and Taxes

What is your brokerage commission?

Rs 0.03 per share or 0.15% of the traded value, whichever is higher, plus Sindh Sales Tax of 15% on the commission. For shares priced above Rs 20 you pay 0.15%; below Rs 20 the per-share rate applies.

Is there a minimum commission per trade?

There's no flat minimum fee. Commission scales with the trade: 0.15% of its value, or Rs 0.03 per share if that's higher, which happens on shares priced under Rs 20.

Is commission different for intraday trades and delivery?

Yes. On an intraday trade, where you buy and sell the same shares on the same day, we charge commission on the buy side only, so the sale is commission-free. Every other trade is charged on both the buy and the sell.

What other charges apply to each trade (CDC, NCCPL, PSX, SECP, CVT, sales tax)?

Sindh Sales Tax of 15% is added to our commission, and CDC charges Rs 5 per trade. PSX, NCCPL and SECP also levy small charges, passed through at cost and the same at every broker. Each appears as a separate line on your contract note, and there's currently no CVT on share purchases.

What does a typical trade cost in total, for example a Rs 10,000 buy?

For a share priced above Rs 20, a Rs 10,000 buy costs Rs 15 in commission (0.15%), Rs 2.25 Sindh Sales Tax and Rs 5 CDC charge: Rs 22.25, plus small exchange and regulatory charges. For a low-priced share the per-share rate applies: 2,000 shares at Rs 5 cost Rs 60 in commission, Rs 9 tax and Rs 5 CDC charge, so Rs 74.

Are there annual or account maintenance fees?

We don't charge an account or maintenance fee, but NCCPL and CDC do. NCCPL charges a UIN fee of Rs 300 a year and a twice-yearly CGT fee of Rs 100 to Rs 60,000, depending on your bracket and activity. CDC charges Rs 300 a year, plus a custody fee of 0.005625% a month on the value of your holdings (about Rs 68 a year on Rs 100,000 of shares), charged at the end of the year.

Are there inactivity or account-closing charges?

No. We don't charge an inactivity or closing fee. NCCPL and CDC fees still apply while your account is open.

What taxes apply on trades and dividends?

Capital gains tax when you sell at a profit, which NCCPL calculates and collects, and withholding tax on dividends, both under FBR rules. For filers, capital gains tax is 15% on shares bought since 1 July 2024, and dividend tax is 15% for most companies. Non-filers pay higher rates.

Do tax filers and non-filers pay different rates?

Yes. Investors who aren't on FBR's Active Taxpayers List pay higher capital gains and dividend tax; for most companies, dividend tax is 15% for filers and 30% for non-filers. Investments made through a Roshan Digital Account are taxed at filer rates.

Is the BSL app free? Are there platform or market-data fees?

Yes, the app is free, and there's no market-data fee. Your app access starts once you've made your first deposit of at least Rs 5,000.

Do larger accounts get lower rates?

Yes. Portfolios of Rs 2.5 million or more qualify for High Net Worth terms: the lowest commission allowed under PSX rules, finer margin financing rates, and the NCCPL UIN fee waived.

Can I get your fee schedule in writing?

Yes. Our full schedule, with worked examples, is on the Commissions and Charges page, and every trade's charges are itemised on your contract note.

Trading and the BSL App

What trading platform do you offer?

Today our clients trade on KITS, PSX's trading platform, on the web, Android and iOS. Our own BSL app, built in-house, launches in November 2026, and we'll move you over with the same account and holdings, with nothing to set up again.

Can I trade on mobile? Is the app on Android and iOS?

Yes. KITS is on Android and iOS, and the new BSL app will be too when it launches in November.

Is there a web or desktop version?

Yes. KITS also runs in your web browser, so you can trade from a laptop or desktop.

How do I place my first order?

Once your account is funded, log in, find the stock, choose Buy, enter the quantity and your price (or choose a market order), and confirm. If you'd like help with your first trade, call us and we'll walk you through it.

What are PSX trading hours?

Monday to Thursday, trading runs 9:32 am to 3:30 pm, after a pre-open from 9:15 am. Friday has two sessions: 9:17 am to 12:00 pm (pre-open from 9:00 am) and 2:32 pm to 4:30 pm (pre-open from 2:15 pm). Hours change during Ramadan, and the market is closed on public holidays.

When do shares I buy show in my portfolio?

Your purchase shows in the app straight after the trade, and the shares settle into your CDC account on the next working day (T+1).

Can I see my portfolio, profit and loss, and dividends in the app?

The app shows your holdings, balance and transaction history. It doesn't show profit and loss or dividend history: cash dividends are paid straight to your bank account, and bonus shares appear in your holdings.

Can I place orders over the phone with a dealer?

Yes. For now, you can place orders by phone with our dealing desk on (021) 32429774-5. High Net Worth clients also have a named senior dealer on a direct line.

Can I apply for IPOs through BSL?

Yes. When an IPO opens for subscription, you can apply through your BSL account, and any shares you're allotted are credited to your CDC account.

Can I invest in mutual funds through BSL?

No. We don't offer mutual fund investing; your BSL account is for shares listed on the PSX.

Do you offer Shariah-compliant investing?

You can build a Shariah-compliant portfolio from PSX's KMI All Shares list, and our stock pages show which companies are on it.

I forgot my password or can't log in. What should I do?

Email customer.support@bsl.com.pk and we'll restore your access. We'll never ask for your password or verification code.

Your Shares, Money and Safety

Is my money and data safe with BSL?

Your shares are held at CDC in an account under your own name, separate from our assets, and your cash sits in a dedicated client account, not in our own accounts. We're licensed by SECP and hold PSX TREC No. 045. Like any investment, the value of your shares can go down as well as up.

Are my shares held in my own name?

Yes. Your shares are held at the Central Depository Company (CDC) in a sub-account in your name, separate from our own assets. We execute your trades; CDC holds your shares.

Can I open and link a CDC Investor Account in my own name?

Yes. A CDC Investor Account is held directly with CDC in your name, and shares move only on your instruction. It can't trade on its own: to sell, you move the shares to your BSL sub-account and trade through us.

What happens to my shares if BSL closes?

Your shares are held at CDC in your name, not by us, so they remain yours and can be moved to another broker. Your cash is held in a segregated client account.

How do dividends and bonus shares reach me?

Cash dividends are paid by the company straight into your registered bank account, after tax is deducted. Bonus shares are credited to your CDC account automatically.

Can I transfer my shares from another broker to BSL?

Yes, and we don't charge for it. Open your BSL account, then contact us and we'll guide you through moving your shares from your current broker.

How do you protect my personal information?

We share your details only with NCCPL, NADRA, CDC, regulators and the service providers that help us run your account, as our Privacy Policy explains. We never sell your data, and we'll never ask for your password or verification code by phone, email or WhatsApp.

What is KYC and why is it required?

KYC (Know Your Customer) is the regulatory check that verifies your identity before you can invest. It's mandatory for every brokerage account in Pakistan, and NCCPL carries it out against NADRA's records.

Are you connected to any grey-market platforms?

No. We operate strictly under SECP and PSX regulations and have no connection to unregulated trading apps or get-rich-quick schemes. If anyone asks you to pay into an account other than BSL's client account, don't, and call us on (021) 32427578.

Our advisors can talk through your options once they understand your goals, timeframe and appetite for risk. Book a free session and use our research to inform your choice. Every decision is yours, and all investing carries risk.

Yes, and it's free. Book a consultation through our Contact page or call (021) 32429774-5.

No. We place trades only on your instruction. Our advisors and research can inform your decisions, but every decision stays with you.
