Most people in Pakistan who save still keep their money in a bank account or a committee. Very few have ever owned a share. We've been on the stock exchange since 1984, and for most of that time, that hasn't changed much.
When I ask people why, the answers are usually the same. Opening an account used to take weeks, and once they were in, they weren't sure who to ask.
I'd like that to change. I want investing in Pakistan to feel as normal as opening a bank account, and I want BSL to be the place people trust to start. Whether you're putting money in for the first time or you've invested for years, you should get clear information from us and have someone you can call.
That's what we're working towards. Opening an account with us now happens online, and you can see where your application stands at every step. We're building our own technology so we can keep making things simpler, and our research team works from data so our views are easy to follow.
Technology is only part of it. Many of our team have spent years on the exchange and have watched the market turn many times. When prices fall and clients get nervous, that experience is what helps.
We've made four commitments to our clients, and they guide how we work:
- Capital security. We follow PSX, SECP and NCCPL rules at every step, and you can see every position, trade and charge clearly.
- Low-latency execution. Fast, reliable execution, with our own order tools built for speed.
- Research grounded in quantitative finance. Clear, rigorous and useful.
- Dedicated client support. Phone and email support from 9 am to 5 pm, a real person to guide your onboarding, and a dedicated trader who reviews your portfolio at least once a month.
We're still early in this. Every change we make is meant to bring us closer to one goal: investing that is simple to start, easy to understand and open to every Pakistani, however much they know about the market today.
If you're thinking about investing for the first time, or you've been doing it for years, we'd be glad to have you with us.
